Falls Secondary School & Library
Where it all began — and self-sufficient for over a decade.
Building Malawi began life supporting Falls Secondary School. It’s the project that started everything — and the proof that our model works.
Over the years we’ve built a total of six classrooms, a toilet block, a staffroom block and a library for the school, contributed a shipment of books, and supplied computers and a printer. A team of volunteers re-decorated the school, built library shelving, re-plumbed the toilet block and replaced old desks.

Sustainable, and thriving
The school is now financially self-sufficient — we don’t contribute anything towards its running, and it doesn’t depend on us. Its exam results are among the best in the city. The library we built in its grounds has become a wonderful asset to the school and the surrounding community, receiving around 70,000 visits a year.
Falls shows what’s possible: build it once, build it well, and it serves a community for generations. Help us do it again.
Be part of the next build.
Time, money or sports equipment — every contribution reaches the ground in Malawi.
